Hi, all. So, per a suggestion from Kait, and with a series name from Leshia, I’m putting a slight spin on my previous primers. Instead of covering one of my normal hobbies, I’m about to dive into one of my other interests: true crime. There are a lot of cases out there that fascinate me for a wide variety of reasons, and if there’s interest, I may write up a few of them. I debated for a while on where to start. In the end, what I’ve picked is, to me, one of the scariest cases I know, that of Dorothy Jane Scott.

Is Dorothy home? )

State of the Kat
Keegan and I are moving on July 21/22. (Currently. Our current landlords asked if we move earlier but we haven't heard back from them on what day exactly, so we're not sure if we can help them out or not.) We have a lot to do between now and then and, ngl, it's causing me stress every time I think of that weekend. I'm worried no one at all will show up to help us and I'll die basically because I haven't exercised in a million years. We're on the third floor with no elevator, so that's a lot of moving. On the other hand, everything has been moving smoothly so far. Work continues apace. Therapy's good and I'm on a good combo of drugs. Keegan got himself some medication for his anxiety, so we'll see how that goes. School is a time crunch but I'm managing to keep up, somehow. Basically I just need July to end and have the move behind me, ugh.

haha needs an EP like burning. But probably won't get one this month unless I go crazy between now and move. Which I might, we'll see. Currently she and Her Boys are scheduled to move into their country house in the late July/early August region, with the ultimate goal of having a birthday party for Gannicus and Krem at the very beginning of April. She's going to help Freddie out during Fairy Tale plot, but beyond those two plots, things are quiet at the moment. Which of course means I'm really hoping she gets possessed during the new Unmaker plot and generally terrify everyone on her behalf. If not, I'll probably give her some nightmares so that she and Krem can be Bad Dream Buddies and Gannicus can sit there fretting. I've been trying to tag her around more and I think I'm doing okay with that, I just need to be conscientious about it. She usually has the least tags just because I'm comfortable with her voice and she's comfortable.

Summoned a demon and got cursed/wandered into the fairy tale cabin at some point, so he's currently stuck in a tower and is going to be saved by Rapunzel for the perfect turnabout play. Alec has his canon update coming up at some point, but beyond that things are going to stay quiet until the wedding. (AUGUST 12, MARK YOUR CALENDARS. EVERYONE WHO KNOWS MAGNUS/ALEC BETTER HAVE A MAILBOX POST SET UP.) I was talking to Joy about the Unmaker thing and the necessity of a sacrifice and I'm playing around with the idea of having Magnus give up his immortality, with the proviso that someone keeps him from aging 400 years on the spot and keeps him alive. I'm... really really really torn on this because on the one hand it would be such a great opportunity to deviate hugely from canon and explore a part of Magnus that hasn't been touched (or probably has been touched but roughly manhandled by fanfic). But on the other hand, his immortality is on another level so integral to him that I'm afraid of veering off too wildly and losing something special. I don't know. There's also the possibility that a better sacrifice comes up and this is all for naught, IDK.

In other plot things, the demon summoning got me in mind for a potential zombie plot? Not any time soon since we already had Hatchimals recently and the Unmaker thing. But if a demon did get loose, my natural instinct is to say the demon raises some dead. IDK, that's where my mind goes. But I don't really have anything other than that and I feel like a good plot needs more pizzazz? Anyone else have any ideas or would this work into something else that someone's got going?

Currently in holding pattern. I need to tag her around or, perhaps, give her an item really soon. She's too content with Jesse and Lincoln and needs something to break her a little. When I think of her, I think only of frustration and that's tiring to play. I do like it. I don't want to eliminate that. But it shouldn't be consuming. But then again, Victra works best in small doses. She's particular about who she shows her different aspects to. She has a conversation going on with Korra right now that I really love, because she's getting a lot off her chest to someone who isn't going to judge, so maybe that will help loosen her up.

SO NEW. I love her. I need her to immediately get a job, preferably not at a newspaper, yet. I'd like her to start an independent one with some other teenagers, after she's gotten some stories under her belt. She managed to get a cop to buy her a beer and is trying to convince Belle to steal a dress, so I feel like I'm doing pretty good with her already. (Lois is not a hoodlum but her sense of RIGHT and WRONG is VERY STRONG and sometimes goes counter to the rules, okay?) Currently she's having a really rough time trying to get over the shock of coming to Darrow, because she misses her family and friends and SmallvilleGuy and she's never been this alone. But it's in her nature not to show that and to soldier on, so she WILL make new friends, it's just a fresh pain right now. Everyone should tag her.

I mean everyone should tag all my pups but her especially right now.

Nah. Keegan and I are watching Deep Space Nine currently, so something might come of that. But that would be in a long while. And, in terms of Star Trek, my heart has always belong to Tom Paris, so I'm not sure I could handle playing someone who wasn't him.

With a goal of reading 50 new-to-me books this year, here are my books finished so far in FY 2017-2018*:

1. The Shadow Isle by Katharine Kerr
2. Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan
3. The Furthest Station by Ben Aaronovitch
4. A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny

* FY is a lot easier for me, because the end of the calendar year is usually a complete and utter disaster due to all the bankers wanting to book deals so that they can show up on the next bonus check.

Thanks in particular to Ashley, Brad, and Kat to pointing me towards these shows and others. (I'm not covering everything in the picture; I promise it won't be that long.)
